Zelensky Confirms Ukrainian Experts Will Continue Work in the Middle East During US-Iran Ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Wednesday, April 8, that Ukrainian expert military teams will remain active in the Middle East during a two-week ceasefire declared between the United States and Iran, emphasizing the importance of this step for regional security.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on Wednesday, April 8, that Ukrainian expert military teams will continue their operations in the Middle East throughout the two-week ceasefire that has been declared between the United States and Iran. Zelensky believes this move is crucial for enhancing security capabilities in the region and could serve as a foundation for ending the ongoing conflict.

The president underscored that the decision to declare a ceasefire is a correct one, noting that various countries have been involved in the negotiation process. He highlighted the importance of the United States taking this diplomatic step, which, in turn, will assist Ukraine in safeguarding lives in the Middle East and the Gulf region.

Zelensky emphasized that the situation in the region, along with security guarantees, significantly impacts the economy and cost of living in other nations. In this context, he urged all parties to consider the interests of each nation when determining post-war conditions. He also pointed out that the issue of unblocking the Strait of Hormuz is fundamental in this regard.

Furthermore, he reminded that Ukraine has always advocated for a ceasefire in the war initiated by the aggressor state, Russia. Zelensky stated that Ukraine is prepared to respond in kind if the Russian side decides to halt its strikes.

On the night of April 7 to 8, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, contingent upon the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump emphasized that the United States has already achieved and exceeded all of its military objectives, and has made significant progress towards reaching a final peace agreement.

Subsequently, Trump declared a 'final' victory for the United States in the war against Iran. In response, a statement was released in Tehran, asserting the 'defeat' of the U.S. These ceasefire announcements came after a series of threats directed at Iran from Trump, who claimed that the U.S. could 'destroy Iran in one night' and could obliterate all bridges and power plants in the country within hours. He also warned that failure to meet his demands would result in 'the end of civilization.'
