Legality and Justice: Key to Preventing Attacks on Military Recruitment Center Representatives, Says MP Cherniev
Yegor Cherniev, Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament's Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, emphasized the critical importance of upholding the principles of legality and justice to prevent tragedies similar to the recent attack in Lviv.
Yegor Cherniev, the Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament's Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, representing the Servant of the People faction, has stressed that adherence to the principles of legality and justice is extremely important to prevent tragedies like the one that occurred in Lviv. On April 2, a serviceman from the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRSS) was killed as a result of an attack.
Cherniev pointed out that to avoid similar situations in Ukraine, it is essential to strictly adhere to legality and justice. 'There is no doubt that mobilization is necessary, as otherwise we will quickly lose the war. However, during this process, the law and human rights must not be violated. If TCRSS employees break the law, the punishment must be inevitable,' he emphasized in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
The MP also highlighted that no individual has the right to resist the lawful demands of TCRSS representatives or to attack their employees. 'In a wartime context, this is a serious crime,' Cherniev underscored, pointing to the gravity of the situation.
This issue, according to the MP, is complex and requires a comprehensive solution focused on restoring legality and justice in society. He called for active measures from the state to ensure law and order and protect human rights during mobilization.
It is worth noting that on April 3, Andriy Trush, an inspector at the Lviv Customs, was informed of his suspicion of intentional murder, under paragraph 8 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article carries a penalty of 10 to 15 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment. The court in Lviv has chosen a preventive measure for Trush in the form of detention without the right to bail.
This tragedy has sparked outrage among the public and raised questions about the safety of TCRSS employees who perform a vital function during wartime. Cherniev called for active dialogue between state structures and society to prevent similar incidents in the future.
