Yermak, Who Initiated and Heads the NAAU Committee, Already Advising Military at the Front

A newly formed committee of the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine (NAAU), initiated by former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, has begun implementing the 'Lawyer+' project, providing legal consultations to military units in combat zones.

The National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine (NAAU) has actively launched the 'Lawyer+' project, just a month after its establishment at the initiative of Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. Yermak, along with other lawyers, has already visited units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in combat zones to offer legal consultations.

According to information provided by the NAAU, this week marked the first field trips of lawyers directly to military units. This initiative was made possible by a decision from the NAAU Committee on the Protection of Victims of Armed Aggression, which supported the launch of the 'Lawyer+' project. Notably, this initiative has seen participation not only from Yermak but also from committee members such as Ihor Andriyev, Polina Marchenko, Vadym Hatezh, and the advisor to the head of the NAAU, Artemiy Karpenko.

Lawyers who participated in the field trips had the opportunity to engage with servicemen from the 157th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade, as well as with the 3rd Operational Brigade 'Spartan' of the National Guard of Ukraine. These meetings represent a significant step in establishing a legal support system for military personnel at the brigade level.

The NAAU's release emphasizes that the 'Lawyer+' project aims to integrate digital tools with offline work by lawyers, who will provide legal assistance directly within military units. This approach will enable servicemen to receive the necessary support on various legal issues, such as service procedures, financial compensation, military medical commissions (VLC), transfers, document processing, and reports.

On March 3, during a meeting, the NAAU reported on the first field trips of lawyers and confirmed the demand for live legal support. This has become an important signal regarding the necessity of legal assistance for military personnel facing numerous challenges while fulfilling their duties.

Additionally, on Friday, regional meetings of the NAAU took place in the cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia. Following discussions, lawyers proposed their candidacies for participation in the 'Lawyer+' project. This reflects the active involvement of the legal community in supporting servicemen and their rights.

It is worth noting that the committee for the protection of victims of armed aggression against Ukraine was established only a month ago, on March 3, at the initiative of Andriy Yermak, who also leads this committee. This highlights the swift response of the legal community to the challenges faced by military personnel during the ongoing war.
