In the early hours of April 6, 2023, Russian forces launched a new attack on an energy facility in the Odesa region, contributing to ongoing missile and drone strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure. According to the National Energy Company 'Ukrenergo', as of the morning of April 6, power outages were reported in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Odesa, and Kherson regions.
The situation in the Chernihiv region is particularly dire, as damage to several energy facilities targeted by enemy attacks has left the highest number of consumers without electricity. The system operator emphasized that emergency recovery operations have already begun in areas where the security situation allows.
Meanwhile, according to DTEK, as a result of the nighttime attack in Odesa, energy workers were able to restore electricity supply to critical infrastructure and nearly 3,000 households. However, an additional 16,700 households in parts of the Prymorsky, Khadzhybei, and Kyiv districts of Odesa remain without electricity.
Representatives of the energy holding company stated, 'The destruction is significant, and recovery will take time. We are working on-site: clearing debris and doing everything possible to restore power as quickly as possible.' This highlights the serious consequences of the attacks, which require significant efforts to restore the energy networks.
According to 'Ukrenergo', electricity consumption in Ukraine on Monday shows an upward trend. As of 9:30 AM, the consumption level was 3.3% higher than at the same time on the previous working day, April 3. This increase is attributed to the traditional rise in energy consumption at the beginning of the workweek, as well as cloudy weather in some regions, which reduces the efficiency of domestic solar power plants.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine also confirmed that there are no restrictions on electricity supply anticipated for Monday. Consumers are advised to monitor any changes in energy supply through the official resources of local energy companies to stay informed about current information.
