Truck Causes Train Delays in Kharkiv Region

As of Friday, April 3, a collision between a truck and a train in the Kharkiv region has led to significant delays and route changes for several trains, according to the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.

On April 3, 2023, a collision involving a truck and a train in the Kharkiv region has resulted in disruptions to train services, with some trains being forced to alter their routes. The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported that recovery operations are currently underway near the Kolomak station, which has necessitated changes for train No. 94, operating between Kholm and Kharkiv, as well as train No. 8, which connects Odesa and Kharkiv.

These affected trains are now taking a detour route that passes through Poltava-Kyivska, Poltava-Pivdenna, Berestyn, and Merefa, thereby avoiding the town of Lyubotyn. It is anticipated that the delays could last up to two hours. Consequently, passengers on the Kharkiv-Lviv train, which had previously halted due to the accident at the crossing, were transferred to reserve carriages. Currently, this train has resumed its journey via Myrhorod.

It is important to note that the incident occurred on April 2, when a truck collided with the passenger train Kharkiv-Lviv near the Kolomak station. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no injuries among the passengers, as the train driver managed to brake in time, reducing the impact of the collision. However, the accident resulted in damage to the locomotive and at least one carriage.

In a related development, Ukrainian Defense Ministry advisor Serhiy (Flash) Beskrestnov announced that the dispatch service of Ukrzaliznytsia has gained access to military airspace control systems. This access enables them to monitor real threats to passengers and organize evacuations when necessary.

Ukrzaliznytsia's General Director Oleksandr Pertzovsky responded to criticism of the new security measures on social media, explaining that since early March 2026, the company has been countering a new wave of intensified attacks from the Russian Federation.

Furthermore, at the end of March, the Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Kuleba, highlighted that the enemy conducts approximately ten attacks each night on railway infrastructure facilities, underscoring the importance of implementing measures to ensure the safety of passengers and the railway transport system as a whole.
