10-Year-Old Boy Rescued After Falling from Fifth Floor into Quarry in Rivne Region
In a remarkable rescue operation, a 10-year-old boy was saved after falling from the height of a fifth floor into a quarry in the Rivne region of Ukraine.
In the Rivne region of Ukraine, a 10-year-old boy was rescued following a dramatic incident where he fell from the height of a fifth floor into a quarry. The child found himself on a difficult-to-reach ledge of a rock, complicating the rescue efforts.
This information was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, which published photos and videos documenting the moments of the child's rescue. The incident occurred on April 2, when the boy's aunt, a resident of the village of Puhach, contacted the police to report her nephew missing. She explained that the child had gone out to ride his bicycle and had not returned home.
In response to the situation, a search operation was organized in the forest area and the quarry. Search teams included police officers, the boy's relatives, local villagers, concerned citizens, military personnel, members of the Predator unit, police dog handlers from Rivne, rescuers, and national guardsmen with service dogs. The search efforts lasted nearly a day, involving nighttime raids and the use of drones to survey the area from the air.
On April 3, around 6:30 PM, the missing boy was first spotted by a friend at the local quarry. He immediately alerted the national guardsmen who were nearby. It was discovered that the child had fallen from a height of approximately five floors and had ended up on a difficult-to-reach ledge of rock. Due to his injuries, the boy was unable to move on his own.
Given the steepness of the slopes, the use of special equipment for the child's evacuation was impossible. Therefore, the participants in the search operation decided to form a human chain to carefully lower the boy and hand him over to medical personnel. Thanks to the coordinated actions of all participants, the child was successfully extracted from the dangerous location.
At the time of hospitalization, the boy was conscious. According to preliminary reports, he sustained fractures to his pelvis, arm, shoulder, and collarbone, as well as bruises and hematomas. Doctors have stated that there is currently no threat to his life, and the boy is receiving necessary medical assistance.
This incident underscores the importance of coordinated actions by rescue services and concerned citizens in emergency situations. The search operation, which lasted nearly a day, serves as an example of how collective efforts can save a child's life.
