Modernization of the Ukrainian Language and Culture Center in Moldova's Bălți
An important event took place in Bălți, Moldova, marking the modernization of the Ukrainian Language and Culture Center, as announced by the Ukrainian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova on its official Facebook page.
In Bălți, Moldova, a significant event occurred related to the modernization of the Ukrainian Language and Culture Center. This information was revealed in a post published on the official Facebook page of the Ukrainian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, which was reported by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.
This project was implemented thanks to the international organization People in Need Moldova in partnership with the Ukrainian Embassy, with funding provided by the Czech foundation SOS Ukraine. The updated Center will become an important hub for learning the Ukrainian language and promoting Ukrainian culture among the youth, which is particularly relevant in the context of current challenges.
The Ukrainian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Pavlo Rohovyi, during the ceremony, highlighted the significant contribution of the Center's director, Diana Ihnatenko, to the development of this academic platform. Her efforts have facilitated the creation of a comfortable environment for learning and cultural exchange, which is vital for Ukrainians living in Moldova.
Additionally, during a meeting with the university leadership, pressing challenges faced by Ukrainian students amid Russian aggression were discussed. These issues are extremely important as Ukrainian students in Moldova require support and protection in the context of the unstable situation.
As part of his visit, Pavlo Rohovyi also met with Roman Hryhorash, the head of the Territorial Office of the State Chancellery in Bălți. The parties discussed in detail the support for Ukrainian citizens residing in the northern regions of Moldova. Specifically, they addressed children's access to education, their integration into local communities, the organization of health programs for Ukrainian children, and the current security situation in Ukraine.
During negotiations with the mayor of Bălți, Alexander Petkov, the prospects for implementing joint projects involving European funding were discussed. This opens new opportunities for cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova, particularly in the fields of education and social integration.
Ambassador Rohovyi expressed personal gratitude to the city leader for the transfer of generators to the Khmelnytskyi region, which has become significant support for Ukrainian communities during the critical period of the war. This gesture of solidarity underscores the importance of international support in times when Ukraine faces numerous challenges.
The Ukrainian Embassy emphasized, "The Embassy of Ukraine highly appreciates the unwavering support of Ukraine from the Republic of Moldova, its citizens, and partners. Such solidarity is extremely important during this difficult time and makes a substantial contribution to strengthening Ukraine's resilience."
It is worth noting that on March 10, celebrations took place in the capital of Moldova, Chișinău, to mark the birthday of Taras Shevchenko. The event was held at the Taras Shevchenko Gymnasium, which is the only educational institution in Chișinău where children study entirely in Ukrainian classes. This reflects the active engagement of the Ukrainian community in Moldova and their desire to preserve Ukrainian culture and language.
