Man Falls into Coma After Attack by Unknown Individuals in Dnipro

On March 25, a Dnipro resident named Serhiy was attacked by unidentified individuals wearing balaclavas, resulting in him falling into a coma and being hospitalized in critical condition for over a week, raising concerns among his family and friends.

On March 25, a Dnipro resident named Serhiy was violently attacked by unknown assailants who were wearing balaclavas. Following this shocking incident, Serhiy fell into a coma and has since been in a hospital in a critical state, causing deep concern among his loved ones and friends.

The tragic event was recounted by Serhiy's wife, Valentina, who witnessed her husband's distressing situation unfold. According to Valentina, Serhiy was delayed on his way home, and when she called him to check on his well-being, she heard him being taken to a military medical commission (VLC).

“All he could say were just two words; I couldn’t hear anything else. I asked him what happened and why he was speaking so poorly. He replied, ‘I have a terrible headache, I’m at the VLC.’ And then the connection was lost,” Valentina recalled, highlighting the alarming circumstances surrounding the incident.

Using geolocation, Valentina was able to track her husband's phone and discovered that he was in one of the hospitals in Dnipro. She rushed to the medical facility, but, as she reported, she was not allowed inside. It was only 40 minutes after her arrival that an ambulance brought the injured Serhiy to the hospital.

“At that point, he couldn’t make any coherent statements. He kept saying, ‘My head hurts, my head hurts.’ Then he started vomiting blood. I looked at him and saw that his right eye was bulging out, and there was a dent in his temple,” Valentina shared, describing her husband’s horrific condition.

After an initial examination, Serhiy was transferred to another hospital where he fell into a coma. Subsequently, he was urgently moved to a different medical facility where doctors diagnosed him with a closed traumatic brain injury and immediately performed surgery.

Valentina also noted that after the incident gained media attention, witnesses came forward who had seen the unknown individuals abducting Serhiy. These witnesses provided her with video evidence showing masked individuals leading her husband to a van.

“Everyone was in balaclavas, without any insignia. They loaded him into a bus, there are license plates, and took him in an unknown direction. If, for example, a person is running and seems to trip, there should be signs of skin abrasion and damage to clothing upon falling. There were no such injuries,” Valentina emphasized, pointing out the strange circumstances of the incident.

According to Valentina, her husband’s military registration documents were in order, and he was not wanted by authorities. Oksana Kuzina, spokesperson for the regional territorial center for recruitment and social support, commented to Suspilne that Serhiy sustained his injuries due to his own negligence while fleeing from a notification group.

“Since it was dark outside, he tripped and fell. The soldiers from the notification group found him sitting on the wet asphalt. They called an ambulance, which took him to the medical facility,” Kuzina explained, attempting to clarify the situation.

The press service of the Dnipro district police reported that a criminal investigation has been opened regarding the incident, and a preliminary investigation is ongoing to clarify all circumstances and hold those responsible accountable.

This case has sparked significant public outcry, as it raises serious questions about citizen safety in the city and the actions of law enforcement in such situations. Residents of Dnipro are alarmed, and many are expressing their support for Valentina and Serhiy during this challenging time.
