Trump: The U.S. Attempted to Supply Weapons to Iranian Protesters, But They Did Not Reach Them
In a recent interview with NBC News, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed attempts by the United States to provide weapons to Iranian protesters opposing the regime in Iran. Trump expressed his belief that the Iranian people lack weapons due to their fear of protesting and the potential for violence against them.
According to a report by Ukrinform, President Donald Trump of the United States shared insights during an interview with NBC News regarding the efforts made by the U.S. to supply arms to Iranian protesters who are standing against the Iranian regime. Trump emphasized that he believes the Iranian populace is unarmed because citizens are afraid to protest due to the risk of being killed.
Trump stated that the U.S. had sent a certain amount of weapons that were intended to reach the Iranian people, enabling them to fight against the regime. However, he noted that these weapons did not reach the protesters as they were appropriated by 'a certain group of individuals.' This situation, according to Trump, has caused him significant disappointment.
"We sent weapons, a lot of weapons. They were supposed to go to the people so they could fight these thugs. You know what happened? The people who were sent the weapons kept them because they said, 'What nice weapons, we will keep them for ourselves.' So I am very upset with a certain group of people, and they will pay a big price for this," Trump remarked.
This statement from the U.S. President has sparked widespread resonance, especially since the Trump administration had previously asserted that the primary objective of military actions was not regime change in Iran. Nevertheless, Trump himself noted that a regime change in the country has already occurred, as the Iranian leadership has been largely decimated due to military actions.
During a press conference today, Trump also expressed his views on the existence of a 'third group of people' currently in Iran with whom the United States is dealing. He emphasized that this group is not as radicalized and believes they are, in fact, much smarter.
It is worth recalling that President Donald Trump had previously announced that U.S. forces had conducted a large-scale strike on Tehran, resulting in the elimination of 'many Iranian military leaders.' These actions have triggered international resonance and outrage, as they could lead to an escalation of conflict in the region.
