Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi recently conducted an important phone conversation with NATO forces commander, General Grynkevych, during which they discussed Ukraine's priority needs within the framework of the PURL program. This information was reported by Ukrinform, noting that the details were shared on Syrskyi's personal Facebook page.
During the conversation, Syrskyi informed his counterpart about the current situation in combat zones and the activity of Russian invaders in key areas of the front. He emphasized the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in destroying enemy forces and liberating territories, indicating a positive trend in the fight against the aggressor.
The Commander-in-Chief highlighted that Russian military losses over the past few months have exceeded the resources being supplied to their combat units. This indicates a gradual depletion of the enemy, which opens up new opportunities for Ukrainian forces.
Syrskyi paid particular attention to the brutal tactics employed by Russian troops in their war against the civilian population. He described the airstrikes targeting populated areas and critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. These attacks not only cause damage to material resources but also endanger the lives of civilians.
Syrskyi stressed the importance of continuing international military assistance for Ukraine, stating: "To further deter the offensive formations of the Russian Federation, to prevent the killing of peaceful civilians, and to ensure air defense for our cities and towns, Ukraine requires continued international military assistance, stable supplies of weapons, primarily air defense systems and munitions for them." These words underscore the critical need for support from the international community.
Additionally, during the meeting, they discussed a list of Ukraine's priority needs under the PURL program, through which European countries and Canada finance American military support. This program is a vital element in providing Ukraine with the necessary resources for defensive actions.
Syrskyi also expressed gratitude to his colleague for the steadfast support of Ukraine from NATO and the United States, which is an important factor in the fight against aggression. This support helps Ukraine strengthen its defensive capabilities and ensure the safety of its citizens.
It is worth noting that earlier, Oleksandr Syrskyi had a phone conversation with the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, Carsten Broeuer, during which the parties also discussed the situation at the front, changes in Russian strike tactics, and the needs of the Ukrainian army, particularly in enhancing air defense.
