Russian Drones Attack Kharkiv — Mayor Reports New Strikes

On April 2, Kharkiv faced multiple attacks from Russian drones, marking the first instance of such aerial assaults on the city, as reported by Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

In Kharkiv, starting from the morning of April 2, numerous attacks were launched by Russian drones, most of which were of the reactive type. This incident marks the first recorded use of such drones for strikes on the city, as confirmed by Kharkiv's Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

According to Terekhov, Russian forces executed 11 shellings of the city, all of which occurred in the Kyiv district. The mayor noted that the number of attacks could have been higher; however, thanks to the coordinated efforts of air defense, many incoming strikes were successfully intercepted.

Currently, hostile drones are still being detected in the suburbs of Kharkiv, which may be targeting the city. This situation raises concerns among residents, as the atmosphere remains tense.

Oleh Synehubov, the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, also confirmed the reports of the attacks. He stated that a Russian drone directly hit a residential building in the Kyiv district of Kharkiv, resulting in a fire on the second and third floors. This incident underscores the dangers faced by the city's residents amid ongoing military actions.

It is noteworthy that during the night and morning of April 2, the aggressor state, Russia, launched six strikes with Shahed drones against Kharkiv. Mayor Ihor Terekhov indicated that five of these strikes occurred specifically in the Kyiv district, where Russian forces attempted to hit a critical infrastructure facility, reflecting the targeted actions of the enemy.

On the evening of April 1, Russian occupiers also attacked a residential high-rise in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv using a combat drone named Molniya. This attack further confirms the alarming trend of using drones to inflict harm on the civilian population.

The situation in Kharkiv remains complex, and local residents continue to experience fear and anxiety due to the constant threats posed by Russian forces. Mayor Ihor Terekhov and head of the Kharkiv regional military administration Oleh Synehubov urge residents to remain cautious and adhere to safety measures, as the danger is still present.

This news once again highlights the importance of supporting and protecting civilians in conflict zones, as well as the necessity for the international community to pay attention to the situation in Ukraine, where Russia's war against Ukraine continues unabated.
