Russia Launches 52 Attacks on Gas Infrastructure in Donetsk Region in One Week – Naftogaz

Between March 30 and April 5, the Russian Federation carried out 52 attacks on gas networks in the Donetsk region, causing gas supply disruptions to 436 households, according to a report from Naftogaz on their Telegram channel.

During the week from March 30 to April 5, the Russian Federation executed a staggering 52 attacks on gas networks in the Donetsk region, leading to the disconnection of gas supply for 436 homes. This alarming information was shared by the state-owned company Naftogaz through their Telegram channel on Tuesday, highlighting the severity of the situation in a region where gas infrastructure is suffering significant damage due to ongoing military actions.

According to the company's data, 147 families have successfully restored their gas supply. Specialists from Donetskoblgas are actively working to reinstate gas services in the areas where it is feasible, taking into consideration the current security situation. This indicates that, despite the dangers, gas service workers are continuing to fulfill their duties in a challenging environment.

The city of Kramatorsk has been the hardest hit, with 23 strikes recorded against its gas infrastructure. As a result, 171 homes have been left without gas. However, 60 families have managed to restore their gas supply, and an additional 45 homes received gas after prior disconnections. This situation underscores the critical state of the gas infrastructure in a city that continues to suffer from military actions.

In addition, the city of Druzhkivka reported 13 strikes, which led to the highest number of disconnections—233 homes were left without gas. In Sloviansk, two incidents resulted in 18 families being deprived of gas. Mykolaivka experienced 13 damages that caused 24 households to lose their gas supply, although 42 families were able to restore their services. One incident in Balbasivka also impacted gas supply in the area.

Naftogaz emphasized that their gas workers are operating under extraordinarily difficult conditions—under fire, amidst destroyed buildings, and damaged infrastructure. “They are restoring gas where the security situation allows,” the company stressed. This reflects a high level of professionalism and dedication among the workers, who, despite the risks, continue to carry out their responsibilities, ensuring that the population has access to essential resources.

The overall situation in the Donetsk region remains tense, and attacks on gas infrastructure only highlight the complexity of the humanitarian crisis in the area. Restoring gas supply amidst war conditions is of utmost importance, as many people rely on this resource for their daily lives. Authorities and gas companies are doing everything possible to provide the population with gas; however, the security situation remains the primary factor affecting their operations.
