Peskov States That Despite a Pause in Negotiations, Russia Continues Contacts with the U.S.

The Kremlin has officially announced that the trilateral negotiations aimed at resolving the war in Ukraine are currently on hold. However, Russia continues to maintain contacts and exchange information with the United States.

The Kremlin has officially communicated that the process of negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing war in Ukraine in a trilateral format is currently at a standstill. Despite this pause, the Russian Federation continues to support contacts and information exchange with the United States. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson who provided this information, noted that the situation regarding negotiations is complicated due to the busy schedule of the American side.

Dmitry Peskov, as quoted by the Interfax news agency, emphasized that it is currently challenging to convene for discussions in a trilateral format. 'The Americans have many other matters to attend to, which is understandable. Because of this, it is difficult to gather in a trilateral format at this time,' he stated during a conversation with journalists. This indicates that the situation on the international stage remains complex, and negotiations cannot proceed in the usual manner.

Despite the suspension of trilateral negotiations, Peskov mentioned that the Ukrainian side continues to engage in dialogue with American representatives. 'We are also continuing to exchange information with the Americans through the channels we have,' he stated, underscoring that communication between the parties remains active despite the absence of formal negotiations.

Journalists also inquired about the potential visit of U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and American businessman Jared Kushner to Kyiv, which could invigorate the negotiation process. In response to this question, Peskov noted that the Kremlin is unaware of any preparations for such a visit. 'We are not precisely aware that it (the visit) is planned,' he said, emphasizing that information regarding possible visits by American representatives to Ukraine remains uncertain.

It is worth recalling that the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, expressed hope that an American delegation might arrive in Kyiv after Easter. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also invited an American negotiating delegation to Kyiv, indicating Ukraine's proactive stance in seeking ways to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Thus, despite the pause in official negotiations, both sides continue to engage in dialogue at various levels, which may indicate hopes for the resumption of the negotiation process in the near future. The situation remains dynamic, and further steps could significantly influence the developments in the region.
