Prosecutor's Office: 'Clients' Smuggled to Belarus for $10,000 Across the Kyiv Region Border
Law enforcement agencies in the Kyiv region have uncovered a criminal scheme involving the smuggling of men to Belarus, from where they aimed to reach European Union countries. The organizer of this illegal activity is a 32-year-old native of Cherkasy.
In a significant crackdown, law enforcement agencies in the Kyiv region have revealed a criminal scheme that facilitated the smuggling of men to Belarus, with the ultimate goal of reaching countries within the European Union. The mastermind behind this illicit operation has been identified as a 32-year-old individual from Cherkasy, who, along with accomplices, offered these smuggling services for a hefty fee of $10,000.
According to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the criminal group devised a meticulous plan to transport 'clients' across checkpoints in the northern part of the Kyiv region without detection. Their scheme involved initially transporting the men northward, bringing them as close to the Belarusian border as possible, while their personal belongings were sent via mail to the same address.
To ensure a safe crossing of the border, the organizers utilized specially configured GPS devices that contained all the necessary route coordinates. This technology enabled the 'clients' to navigate through the forest even without mobile phone service. Additionally, the men were instructed on camouflage techniques in the border area to evade capture by Ukrainian border guards.
According to the organizers' plan, once the men successfully crossed into Belarus, they would have the opportunity to travel to EU countries, where they could pursue better life prospects.
However, this criminal scheme was ultimately exposed. The organizer was apprehended while in the process of receiving half of the agreed amount—$5,000. Following his arrest, he was formally charged with organizing the illegal smuggling of individuals across the state border of Ukraine.
This case stands as further evidence of the active efforts by law enforcement agencies in combating illegal migration and organized crime within Ukraine. The Prosecutor's Office urges citizens to remain vigilant and not to succumb to such offers, as these actions are not only illegal but also pose significant risks.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, similar cases require heightened attention from both society and the state, as the organizers of such schemes can inflict serious harm not only on the migrants themselves but also on the overall security of the country.
