Frequently, the desire to cram one last shirt into an already full drum leads to serious complications. When a washing machine is overloaded, the motor is forced to operate at the edge of its capabilities just to move the mass of wet fabric. Another invisible enemy of washing machines is limescale, which settles on the heating element. It acts like a thermal blanket, hindering the transfer of heat to the water. Consequently, the heating element overheats and eventually burns out. If white streaks remain on the glass door after washing, this is a signal that the water requires softeners. Using descaling agents during every cycle is found to be cheaper than replacing a burnt-out element every year and a half.

Paradoxically, excessive diligence in maintaining cleanliness can also be detrimental. In reality, an excess of chemicals creates too much foam, which blocks pressure sensors and settles as a slippery layer on the inner walls, where water jets cannot reach during rinsing. This residue becomes an ideal breeding ground for black mold. Therefore, after washing, it is advisable not to tightly close the door and detergent drawer—this allows the system to dry out, preventing moisture from turning into a mold farm.

Once a month, it is beneficial to perform preventive measures for the washing machine. Running a cycle at maximum temperature (90-95 degrees Celsius) without laundry, but with the addition of a special cleaning agent, will help dissolve grease and bacteria residues. Additionally, do not forget to unscrew the drain filter at the bottom of the machine's body once a quarter. This is where hair, coins, and lint typically accumulate, gradually killing the pump.
