EU Ambassador Welcomes Verkhovna Rada's Decision: Anticipates Further Legislation
European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, has expressed her approval of the Ukrainian Parliament's recent passage of several significant laws essential for the country's Euro-integration process and attracting international financial support.
European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, has welcomed the recent approval by the Verkhovna Rada of several important laws that are crucial for Ukraine's Euro-integration process and for securing international financial assistance. This information was disclosed in her statement published on the platform X, which was provided to the publication 'European Truth.'
In her statement, Maternova emphasized that the positive outcomes of the parliamentary votes on these bills represent a significant step forward for Ukraine. 'The laws regarding the digitalization of judicial decision enforcement procedures, as well as the integration of Ukraine's and Europe's electricity markets, unlock vital funding through the Ukraine Facility. I expect further legislation to be passed by the Rada,' she noted.
It is worth recalling that on April 7, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading and as a whole bill No. 14005, which pertains to the digitalization of judicial decision enforcement procedures. This bill is a crucial indicator for the Ukraine Facility program, aimed at supporting Ukraine in its Euro-integration efforts.
Additionally, during the same session, the parliament approved law No. 12087-d, which concerns the integration of Ukraine's electricity markets with those of Europe. This law also marks an important step towards the integration of energy markets, which, in turn, will contribute to the stability and development of the energy sector in Ukraine. Furthermore, a law was passed regarding 'industrial visa-free' travel with the European Union, which opens new opportunities for Ukrainian enterprises.
Moreover, the Verkhovna Rada approved the 'Euro-integration' bill No. 14412 'On the Principles of Demarcation and Distribution of Powers between Levels of Public Governance.' This law is designed to enhance the governance system in Ukraine and ensure more effective interaction between various levels of government.
At the same time, it is important to note that the European Commission has expressed concern regarding planned changes that could shorten the duration of the politically significant persons (PEP) status to three years. This status is crucial for ensuring transparency and preventing corruption risks in public administration.
Thus, the passage of these laws represents a significant step towards Ukraine's Euro-integration and demonstrates the country's readiness to fulfill its commitments to international partners. It is expected that further actions by the Verkhovna Rada will contribute to strengthening democratic institutions and advancing Ukraine's economy.
