Polish Border Guards Detain Ukrainians for Transporting 12 Russians Illegally Crossing the Border

In the southern Polish city of Sanok, border guards have apprehended two Ukrainian citizens attempting to transport 12 Russians who were illegally crossing the border. This incident highlights ongoing challenges related to illegal migration in the region.

In the southern Polish city of Sanok, border guards have detained two Ukrainian citizens who were trying to transport a busload of 12 Russians illegally crossing the border. This was reported by the Polish news agency RMF24.

The incident occurred on March 31 during a routine check of transport routes leading from southern Europe. Officers from the Bieszczady Border Guard Unit stopped the bus for a document inspection and discovered that it was carrying 12 Russian nationals.

Upon inspection, it became clear that none of the Russians possessed the necessary documents allowing them to cross the Polish-Slovak border or to remain in Poland. Authorities established that these individuals had applied for residency in Hungary and were required to stay there according to established regulations.

The Russians admitted their guilt regarding the illegal border crossing. Consequently, all detainees were sentenced to six months of imprisonment, deferred for two years, and were banned from entering Schengen Zone countries. Following the legal proceedings, they were forced to leave Poland and have already departed to Belarus.

It is noted that the organizers of this illegal crossing were the two Ukrainians who were driving the bus. After their arrest, the court sentenced them to one year of imprisonment, also deferred for two years.

In addition, on March 31, Polish border guards apprehended another Ukrainian citizen, a 40-year-old woman who worked as the head of a company that issued false employment certificates. These documents enabled Belarusians to illegally obtain visas to Poland.

This incident underscores the severity of the illegal migration problem in the region, as well as the efforts of Polish border guards in combating such offenses. Poland, as part of the Schengen Zone, continues to take measures to ensure the security of its borders and to control migration flows.
