Germany Donates Three Minibuses to Kyiv for Transporting Children with Disabilities, Says Mayor

The Kyiv City Territorial Center for Social Services has received three new specialized minibuses intended for the transportation of children with disabilities, according to Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko's announcement on his Telegram channel.

The Kyiv City Territorial Center for Social Services has recently expanded its fleet with the addition of three specialized minibuses designed specifically for transporting children with disabilities. This significant development was reported by the Mayor of Ukraine's capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, through his Telegram channel.

According to Klitschko, these minibuses were provided to Kyiv through the efforts of German partners. The vehicles were made available with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, in close collaboration with Kyiv's partner cities, including Leipzig, Berlin, and the Charlottenburg district.

The mayor highlighted that the city’s social services center currently serves over 1,500 individuals who require regular transportation, the majority of whom are children with disabilities. Klitschko emphasized that for many families, these transportation services are essential. Children often need transport three to four times a week for regular visits to doctors, rehabilitation sessions, and educational activities.

With the introduction of these new minibuses, Kyiv will be able to provide daily transportation for 40 to 50 children with disabilities. This development will undoubtedly ease the burden for many families who face challenges in arranging transportation for their children.

Klitschko also pointed out that the demand for social transport significantly exceeds the available resources. In the first three months of this year alone, the city’s social transport service conducted nearly 10,000 trips. However, even this level of service is insufficient to meet all the needs of individuals with disabilities. Each new vehicle, according to the mayor, represents a crucial opportunity for people with disabilities to access treatment, undergo rehabilitation, remain active, and avoid social isolation.

Thus, the donation of minibuses from Germany marks an important step in supporting children with disabilities in Ukraine and underscores the close cooperation between Kyiv and German cities. This initiative will help improve the quality of life for many children and their families by ensuring access to essential medical and educational services.
