NAAU Registers New Public Organization 'Justice for Ukraine' – Yermak

The National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine (NAAU) has announced the registration of a new public organization named 'Justice for Ukraine'. According to Andriy Yermak, the head of the committee for the protection of victims of armed aggression against Ukraine, this organization will focus on providing assistance to military personnel and their families, particularly in addressing legal issues related to their status, payments, rights protection, and compensation.

The National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine (NAAU) has officially registered a new public organization called 'Justice for Ukraine'. This initiative, as stated by Andriy Yermak, who chairs the committee dedicated to protecting those affected by armed aggression against Ukraine, aims to offer support to military personnel and their families. The organization will specifically address legal matters concerning their status, entitlements, rights protection, and compensation.

In a message shared on his Telegram channel, Yermak emphasized that the NAAU committee is actively working on systemic solutions, which include policies, approaches, and legislative measures. He noted, 'The public organization is a continuation of this work, but at the level of specific cases. We are talking about military personnel, prisoners of war, their families, and children – and their real legal issues: status, payments, rights protection, and compensation.'

Among the founders of this new public organization, Yermak highlighted several key individuals, including Marine Corps officer Artem Dyblenko, who defended Mariupol, lawyer Yuliya Stepanenko, and lawyer Tetiana Kan. These individuals bring extensive experience in the legal field and are prepared to actively engage in the organization's efforts.

'We plan to begin full operations with the office and the first cases as early as May,' Yermak added, underscoring the timeline for the organization's activities. This indicates a serious commitment to addressing the challenges faced by service members and their families in Ukraine.

The establishment of this organization comes in the context of recent events in Ukraine, particularly the decree signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky on November 28, 2025, which relieved Andriy Yermak from his position as head of the President's Office. Yermak had held this role since February 11, 2020. Prior to his dismissal, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) conducted searches in his office based on a ruling by a investigating judge from the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC), yet no charges were brought against any individual.

Following his departure from the office, Yermak took over the Committee on the Protection of Victims of Armed Aggression against Ukraine, Compensation Mechanisms, and Euro-Integration Legal Support for Recovery in March 2025. This move reflects his intention to continue working for the benefit of those affected by the war in Ukraine, leveraging the new opportunities presented by the public organization 'Justice for Ukraine'.
