Russians Drop Fake Money with QR Codes from Drones in Sumy and Chernihiv Regions
On October 23, Oleg Grygorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported the discovery of counterfeit money dropped by Russian military forces using drones, raising concerns about potential provocations.
Today, October 23, Oleg Grygorov, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, announced via social media platform Facebook the detection of counterfeit money that had been dropped by Russian military personnel from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to him, these fake banknotes were found in two districts of the Sumy region and contained hostile inscriptions as well as QR codes that lead to enemy resources.
Grygorov noted that the discovered banknotes were confiscated for examination. He emphasized that the Russians systematically use drones not only to attack Ukrainian positions but also to drop suspicious items, which may indicate attempts at provocation on their part. 'Be careful. If you see such items, immediately report them to the police or the State Emergency Service,' he stressed in his post.
Additionally, this morning, the Koryukivka District Military Administration of the Chernihiv region also reported a similar incident. In the city of Snovsk, an enemy drone scattered leaflets that resembled banknotes with a QR code printed on them. Authorities urged the population not to approach these items and not to scan them, as it could be dangerous.
These actions by Russian military forces may be part of a broader campaign of disinformation and psychological influence aimed at the Ukrainian population. As reported by Ukrinform, Russian propaganda is attempting to disrupt the evacuation of civilians from Ukraine, particularly children, from frontline settlements, and to discredit evacuation units such as 'White Angel.'
In the context of the ongoing war, such actions by the enemy are part of the information war that accompanies military actions. Authorities are calling on citizens to remain vigilant and not to fall for provocations that could threaten their safety.
This incident further underscores the importance of caution and a conscious approach to information coming from various sources, especially in wartime conditions. Citizens must be attentive to any suspicious items that may appear in the area and always report them to the relevant services.
In light of these events, it is also essential to highlight that information security is an integral part of Ukraine's national security. Authorities continue to work on protecting the population from disinformation and provocations that may threaten the peace and safety of citizens.
