Iran Presents 10 Conditions to the U.S. for Ending War – Reports
Iran has submitted a ten-point proposal to the United States and Israel aimed at concluding the ongoing conflict in the region, according to reports from The New York Times citing Iranian state media and officials.
Iran has conveyed a comprehensive proposal to the United States and Israel, consisting of ten specific points designed to bring an end to the ongoing war in the region. Central to this initiative are demands for the lifting of all international sanctions and an immediate cessation of military strikes against the Hezbollah group. This information was reported by The New York Times, referencing Iranian state media and high-ranking officials.
The Iranian plan was reportedly transmitted through Pakistan, which is acting as the primary mediator in the conflict. This document surfaced just ahead of a deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump, which is due to expire on Tuesday evening. Following this deadline, sources warn that a new wave of bombings against Iran could commence, raising serious concerns among the Iranian populace.
Two senior Iranian officials confirmed that key demands from Tehran include guarantees against future attacks, the complete lifting of all international sanctions, and the halting of Israeli military operations against Hezbollah, which is based in Lebanon. In response to these demands, Iran is prepared to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital route for global energy exports.
However, the Iranian plan stipulates the introduction of a special fee of approximately $2 million for each vessel passing through the strait. Iran intends to share these funds with Oman, located on the opposite shore of the strait. The financial resources obtained are planned to be used for the reconstruction of infrastructure that has been devastated due to American and Israeli attacks.
Iranian state media emphasize that the text of the proposal fundamentally rejects the idea of a ceasefire and underscores the necessity for a definitive conclusion to the war according to Iran's vision. This indicates that Tehran is resolute and does not plan to make compromises that could be perceived as weakness.
What led to this initiative? On March 24, the United States sent Iran a 15-point proposal concerning conflict resolution. However, the Iranian side rejected this proposal, labeling Washington's demands as 'excessive, unusual, and illogical.' Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stressed that the current initiative from Tehran is a response to the 'illogical' demands from the U.S.
In recent weeks, Donald Trump has threatened to strike critical civilian infrastructure in Iran, including bridges and power plants, if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday evening. Such a large-scale strike, experts say, could significantly impact the daily lives of millions of Iranians. Many legal scholars believe that attacks on civilian infrastructure could be classified as war crimes under international law, adding further tension to an already complex situation in the region.
