Asparagus Farm Zhuravlya Begins Green Asparagus Harvest Season
Asparagus Farm Zhuravlya, known for its asparagus cultivation, has officially announced the start of the green asparagus harvest season and the sale of its first crop for 2026. This announcement marks a significant moment for many consumers as asparagus gains increasing popularity in the Ukrainian market.
Asparagus Farm Zhuravlya, which specializes in the cultivation of asparagus, has officially announced the commencement of the harvest season for this niche vegetable and the sale of its first crop for the year 2026. This announcement is significant for many consumers, as asparagus is becoming increasingly popular in the Ukrainian market.
At the start of the season, the price for first-grade asparagus is set at 700 UAH per kilogram, while second-grade asparagus is being sold for 500 UAH per kilogram. These prices reflect the current market situation and are close to last year's starting figures. As noted in the publication, 'the current price indicators are similar to last year's starts, when due to a cool spring and limited supply, the cost of organic products also began at 700 UAH per kilogram.'
It is worth noting that in 2025, retail prices for the first batches of greenhouse asparagus ranged from 600 UAH per kilogram, while wholesale sales from the field reached 800 UAH per kilogram. This indicates that the asparagus market in Ukraine is demonstrating dynamic development, albeit with certain price fluctuations.
Market experts also remind us that last year, the price of asparagus at the beginning of sales was 25% higher than in the previous season. However, by the end of April 2025, the price began to gradually decrease to 500 UAH per kilogram, and with the onset of mass harvesting in May, it stabilized in the range of 300-400 UAH per kilogram. This suggests that the demand for asparagus may vary depending on the season and supply.
Farmer Pavlo Bulhakov, who grows asparagus in Cherkasy region, expressed confidence that there will be no problems with the sale of this product in Ukraine over the next 5-7 years. This is confirmed by the growing consumer interest in asparagus, as well as in other niche vegetable crops such as sweet potatoes.
Thus, the Ukrainian asparagus market continues to develop, and farmers like Pavlo Bulhakov see significant business opportunities in this sector. The demand for asparagus and other niche vegetables is on the rise, opening new horizons for Ukrainian agrarians. In the face of changing climate conditions and economic challenges, products like asparagus may become an important element of the country's agricultural strategy.
