Drones Strike Pryluky and Novhorod-Siverskyi in Chernihiv Region, Fires Erupt in City Centers

On the morning of Tuesday, April 7, the city of Pryluky, located in the Chernihiv region bordering Russia, was targeted in a drone attack. According to local authorities, the strike hit the city council building, causing extensive damage and raising alarms among residents.

RBC-Ukraine reported, citing its correspondent, that the first explosions were heard around 10:08 AM, with at least three loud blasts recorded, sending shockwaves of fear through the local population.

The Pryluky city council building is situated in the heart of the city at a busy intersection, typically bustling with people. This central location makes it particularly vulnerable to such attacks, as numerous citizens may have been present at the time of the explosions.

In addition to the strike in Pryluky, Russian forces also targeted the State Tax Inspection building in the center of the border town of Novhorod-Siverskyi, which is also located in the Chernihiv region.

Alexander Selyverstov, the head of the Novhorod-Siverskyi District Military Administration, took to Facebook to express his concerns, stating, "The enemy has committed another act of aggression against the civilian infrastructure of the border region." He reported that around 9:30 AM, a Russian drone struck the center of Novhorod-Siverskyi, impacting the State Tax Inspection building. The resulting shockwave damaged the facades of nearby residential buildings and private vehicles.

As of Tuesday afternoon, emergency services and law enforcement were on-site to address the aftermath of the attacks, working diligently to mitigate the damage and ensure the safety of residents.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), a fire broke out covering approximately 600 square meters (6,458 square feet) following the strike on the State Tax Inspection building. Firefighters were actively engaged in extinguishing the flames, while information regarding potential casualties was still being verified.

The Chernihiv region has been under near-constant attack from Russian forces, with daily reports of assaults on civilian infrastructure. The head of the regional military administration provided a morning update indicating that the situation remains tense, as Russian troops continue to shell civilian areas, inflicting damage not only on government facilities but also on residential neighborhoods.

These recent events underscore the severity of the situation in Ukraine's border regions, where ordinary citizens are becoming victims of military actions. Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures, as the threat of aerial attacks remains high.
