Russian Drones Attack Southern Odesa, Damaging Civilian and Port Infrastructure

On the night of April 6, 2023, Russian drones launched another attack on southern Odesa, causing significant damage to civilian and port infrastructure, according to Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration.

On the night of April 6, 2023, Russian drones launched another attack on southern Odesa, causing significant damage to civilian and port infrastructure. This information was shared by Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, through his Telegram channel.

Kiper reported that the hostile attack resulted in the partial destruction of a warehouse building and an administrative facility. Following the attack, fires broke out, which, fortunately, were extinguished. However, as of now, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries, a point emphasized by Kiper.

This attack is part of Russia's ongoing campaign against Ukraine, which has persisted since the onset of the full-scale invasion in February 2022. The Odesa region, located in southern Ukraine, has become one of the key areas where the enemy seeks to inflict damage not only on military targets but also on civilian infrastructure.

It is noteworthy that such attacks on civilian objects have become a common occurrence in Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians. For instance, during the drone attack on April 6, a strike was recorded on a high-rise building in Odesa, leading to the tragic deaths of a 30-year-old woman and her 2.5-year-old daughter, as well as a 53-year-old woman.

These events raise concerns not only among local residents but also on the international stage, where calls for increased sanctions against Russia and additional military assistance for Ukraine are growing louder. The public and human rights advocates are demanding that international organizations, such as the United Nations, pay attention to the violations of human rights and international humanitarian law occurring as a result of these attacks.

Oleg Kiper also urged the residents of Odesa to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures, as hostile attacks may recur. He stressed the importance of being prepared for any situation, including having shelters and evacuation plans in place.

Amidst these events, Ukrainians continue to unite in their struggle against the aggressor, supporting one another and demonstrating incredible resilience. Authorities are calling on the population to remain informed and to follow official communications for updates.
