Budanov Believes Without New Industrialization, Ukraine May Lose Its Subjectivity
Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, emphasized the urgent need for new industrialization in Ukraine, warning that without it, the country risks losing its subjectivity on the international stage.
Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has articulated his views on the pressing necessity for new industrialization in Ukraine, asserting that without this initiative, the country may lose its subjectivity in the international arena. He shared these insights on his Telegram channel following a meeting with students from the Kyiv School of Economics, as reported by Ukrinform.
Budanov pointed out that the modern world is becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable. He underscored that for Ukraine to survive in such conditions and maintain a strong voice, it is essential to embark on a new industrialization journey by implementing new technologies. "This is a difficult but unavoidable path," he stressed, highlighting the significance of this process for the country's future.
The head of the Office of the President also emphasized that small countries like Ukraine cannot afford to be weak. They must maintain their presence on the world map as full-fledged subjects. "Thus, such countries have only two paths: either to become strong and resilient or to slowly fade into the shadows of more powerful neighbors," Budanov noted, emphasizing the importance of strength and resilience for survival.
He also shared his impressions from the meeting with students, noting that the conversation was candid and addressed topics that are not always pleasant but are always truthful. "I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and relevance of the questions posed by the students. Therefore, I was as open as possible in my responses," Budanov confessed, highlighting the importance of dialogue between generations.
Interestingly, earlier, the Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, also raised the issue of industrialization in a blog for Ukrinform. He remarked that the full-scale war has compelled Ukraine to reassess its fundamental approaches to economic policy. According to him, while discussions about a 'service economy' or a pivot towards IT were once feasible, it has now become evident that without a strong industrial base, there will be neither a sustainable economy nor an adequate level of security. Thus, the issue of reindustrialization, in Terekhov’s view, is transforming from a potential development strategy into a necessity.
These statements reflect a broader trend in Ukraine, where an increasing number of experts and politicians are calling for the restoration of the country's industrial potential. In the context of the modern challenges faced by Ukraine, the importance of industrialization is becoming ever more pressing. Issues of technological development and economic resilience are at the forefront of the agenda, and addressing them may become a key factor for the country's future.
