Aviation Expert Valeriy Romanenko Discusses Drone Statistics, Fire Point Products, and Threats from Belarus
In a recent interview with Radio NV, aviation expert Valeriy Romanenko shared crucial insights into the use of drones in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, highlighting significant statistics and emerging threats.
Valeriy Romanenko, an aviation expert and leading researcher at the State Aviation Museum, recently provided important data regarding the use of drones in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine during an interview with Radio NV. He noted that Western media have also confirmed that in March, the Ukrainian Defense Forces achieved a record number of launched strike drones targeting Russian territory. This includes both mid-strikes and deep-strikes, with the difference in numbers being just under a thousand.
Romanenko pointed out that during the night in Orenburg, Russia, located at least 1,100 kilometers from the Ukrainian borders, a missile alert was initially declared. Although subsequent information clarified that no missiles were launched, the expert emphasized that something was indeed happening. Temporarily occupied territories, including Luhansk and Feodosia, also experienced drone attacks, indicating the active engagement of Ukrainian forces.
Particular attention was given by Romanenko to the situation in the port of Novorossiysk, where, according to him, the frigate Admiral Makarov, the last major ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, was stationed. Two aircraft-type drones were dropped on it. This indicates that the Russian fleet is suffering significant losses, and as reported by Russian war correspondents, the Black Sea has become considerably less safe for them, prompting the withdrawal of ships from the region.
Romanenko also stressed that the statistics regarding drone launches should be treated with caution. 'You know there are three types of lies, one of which is statistics,' he remarked, indicating that the Russian side might manipulate data. According to him, Russians claim that Ukrainian forces have launched more drones, but in each region, they report shooting down between 100 to 500 Ukrainian drones. This could create the impression that their numbers are only increasing, even if that is not the case.
In his interview, Romanenko also touched upon the extensive range of products from Fire Point, a company actively supplying drones to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. He noted that the products from this company have become a crucial element in ensuring the effectiveness of Ukrainian military operations. An important part of the discussion was also the topic of graphite bombs, which are used by Ukrainian forces to strike enemy targets.
Overall, the situation at the front remains tense, and Romanenko emphasized that the threat from Belarus should not be underestimated. He urged for close attention to all aspects of the conflict, as developments could significantly impact the situation in the region.
