Russia's Attacks in Ukraine: New Threats to Civilians
Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, has made a crucial statement emphasizing that the primary goal of Russian attacks occurring in broad daylight is to increase civilian casualties.
Kovalenko's remarks come at a time when Ukraine has witnessed a surge in mass attacks from the aggressor, making this information particularly relevant. He pointed out that the combined attacks are strategically executed during working hours and are accompanied by the use of a significant number of drones and missiles. This approach indicates a deliberate tactic by the enemy aimed not only at military targets but also at civilians, which undoubtedly raises concerns among Ukrainians.
In light of the ongoing threats, Kovalenko urged Ukrainian citizens to take air raid alerts seriously and to seek safety in secure locations, as the situation remains tense. On the morning of April 3, air raid alerts were issued across several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, due to the threat posed by Russian strike drones and cruise missiles. This development underscores the aggressor's continued active operations, attempting to inflict harm on as many people as possible.
Yuriy Ihnat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that since the beginning of the day, Russia has launched over 400 drones towards Ukraine. This information confirms that the aggressor is not resting on its laurels and continues to implement its plans using new tactics. Ihnat also mentioned that there is information about new launches from various directions, indicating the possibility of further attacks.
It is noteworthy that Russian forces are repeating the pattern of mass attacks that were employed on March 23-24 and March 31-April 1. During these days, drones attacked throughout the day, causing significant damage and triggering panic among the population. This is part of a new tactic reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on April 2. According to their data, Russia is utilizing a combination of large-scale nighttime strikes with similarly extensive daytime attacks, indicating an escalation of the conflict.
Thus, the situation in Ukraine remains critical, and Ukrainians must be prepared for new challenges. Authorities are calling on the population to adhere to safety measures and to closely monitor information coming from official sources. Despite all the difficulties, the Ukrainian people continue to fight for their freedom and independence, and it is essential to remember this during these trying times.
