Andriy Yermak Visits Combat Zone to Provide Legal Consultations to Military Personnel

Former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, who recently became the head of the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine (NALU) committee for the protection of war victims, visited the combat zone to offer legal consultations to soldiers.

Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has taken on a new role as the head of the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine (NALU) committee dedicated to protecting victims of war. Recently, he, along with a team of other lawyers, visited the combat zone to provide essential legal consultations to military personnel. This initiative is part of a new project named Lawyer+, aimed at ensuring legal support for soldiers at the brigade level.

The announcement was made on Friday, April 3, when the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine released relevant information. According to the statement, this week marked the first field trips of lawyers directly to units in the combat zone, in line with the decision of the NALU Committee on the Protection of Victims of Armed Aggression to launch the Lawyer+ project.

As part of this initiative, Yermak was joined by committee members Igor Andreev, Polina Marchenko, Vadim Gatezh, and advisor to the head of NALU Artemiy Karpenko. The lawyers held meetings with military personnel, including representatives from the 157th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade, and the 3rd Operational Brigade Spartan of the National Guard of Ukraine, providing them with necessary legal advice.

The Lawyer+ project combines digital tools with offline work conducted by lawyers directly within the units, facilitating more effective legal support for military personnel. This is a significant step towards improving access to legal assistance for those on the front lines.

The National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine established the committee for the protection of victims of armed aggression against Ukraine just a month ago, on March 3. This committee aims to provide legal mechanisms to support those affected by the war, as well as to promote compensation mechanisms and European integration legal frameworks for recovery.

It is noteworthy that Andriy Yermak, who previously held the position of head of the Office of the President, became well-known in society following events surrounding his resignation. On November 28, 2025, Ukrainian Truth reported that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) conducted searches in his office in the government quarter. Later that evening, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Andriy Yermak was resigning, marking a significant event in the country’s political life.

Since his appointment to the new position on March 3, 2026, Yermak has been actively engaged in issues related to the legal protection of war victims and restoring justice for those affected by armed aggression. His experience and knowledge in this area could prove crucial for the development of the legal system in Ukraine amid ongoing conflict.

Thus, the Lawyer+ initiative and the activities of the NALU committee for the protection of war victims represent important steps towards providing legal support for military personnel and restoring justice for those affected by armed aggression.
