President Volodymyr Zelensky and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico have discussed the possibility of a personal meeting in the near future to strengthen bilateral relations.
During a phone conversation on Saturday, May 2, the two leaders expressed a mutual interest in building stronger ties between their neighboring states. Zelensky noted that Slovakia supports Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and is prepared to share its own accession experience.

The president extended an invitation for Fico to visit Kyiv and thanked the prime minister for a reciprocal invitation to Bratislava. Diplomatic teams from both nations are currently working to finalize a schedule for the meeting.
This diplomatic outreach precedes Zelensky’s scheduled visit to Yerevan on Monday, May 4, for the European Political Community (EPC) summit. During that summit, Zelensky is also expected to hold his first personal meeting with the newly appointed Czech prime minister, Andrej Babiš .
The intensified diplomatic activity follows Zelensky’s milestone visit to Baku on April 25 , where Ukraine signed six bilateral defense-industrial agreements with Azerbaijan.
As the EPC summit approaches , Zelensky continues to balance regional partnerships, focusing on energy security and geopolitical stability across Europe .
