The attacks underscored Russia’s continued pressure on Ukraine’s energy, logistics and urban infrastructure, even as Ukrainian forces reported intercepting most of the UAVs aimed at Izmail. A Russian UAV struck Kharkiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district, injuring one person, according to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration. “An enemy UAV hit has been recorded in Kharkiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district,” Syniehubov wrote on Telegram. According to preliminary information, one person was injured. “All emergency services are working at the strike site,” he added. The Shevchenkivskyi district is one of Kharkiv’s central urban areas and has repeatedly come under Russian fire during the full-scale war. Mykolaiv Energy Infrastructure Targeted In southern Ukraine, Russian Shahed-type drones targeted energy infrastructure in Mykolaiv, according to Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration. Kim first reported renewed air raid activity in the region, warning that drones were approaching Mykolaiv from the south. He later confirmed that the city’s energy infrastructure was once again under attack. Other Topics of Interest Ukraine’s Missile Maker Fire Point Named in New ‘Mindich Tapes’ Scandal – What Happened? The mention of one of Ukraine’s rising stars in defense tech, in purportedly leaked calls implicating a former defense minister, has raised fresh questions about the company. “Mykolaiv. The energy infrastructure is once again under attack by Shahed drones. As of now, there are no casualties,” Kim wrote on Telegram. Earlier in the evening, Kim had reported that an air raid alert had been lifted in Mykolaiv region. A new alert was then declared later that night, followed shortly afterward by warnings of drones moving toward the regional capital. The overnight strike followed a previous Russian attack on Mykolaiv on Thursday, when Russian forces used Shahed and FPV drones to target the city’s energy and critical infrastructure. Ukrainian officials said three people were injured in that attack, while residential buildings and vehicles were damaged by falling debris. Izmail Port Facilities Hit After Mykolaiv Strike After the strike on Mykolaiv, Russian forces also attacked port infrastructure in the city of Izmail, Odesa region, local officials said. The Izmail District State Administration reported that Russian drones targeted the city’s port infrastructure overnight into May 2. “The enemy once again carried out an attack on the port infrastructure of the city of Izmail,” the administration said. Ukrainian air defense forces reportedly intercepted most of the drones targeting Izmail’s port infrastructure overnight, with local officials saying there was “practically no destruction” after the attack. “Air defense forces worked very effectively – most of the enemy UAVs were shot down. There is practically no destruction,” the administration added. Officials did not report casualties from the Izmail strike. Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper also posted air raid updates during the attack, confirming that an air raid alert had been declared in Izmail district before later announcing the all-clear. Russia Keeps Pressure on Energy, Ports and Cities The latest attacks show Russia continuing to use drones to pressure several parts of Ukraine at once. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly warned that Russian forces are targeting critical infrastructure in an effort to disrupt electricity supplies, logistics, transport routes and civilian life. In southern Ukraine, Mykolaiv and Odesa region remain frequent targets because of their strategic importance. Mykolaiv is a key regional center near the Black Sea, while Izmail and other Danube ports are vital for Ukraine’s export routes and maritime logistics. In the northeast, Kharkiv continues to face regular Russian drone, missile and glide bomb attacks due to its proximity to the Russian border. No casualties were reported in the Mykolaiv and Izmail attacks, according to the officials cited. In Kharkiv, at least one person was injured, with emergency services working at the scene.
