Russia struck a Liberia-flagged grain vessel in the Black Sea on Tuesday morning, Ukrainian authorities reported.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, in a Telegram update , said the attack started a fire aboard the ship that was quickly extinguished, with no casualties reported.

The vessel was traveling to ports in the Odesa region to load corn when it was struck, and continued to its destination after the attack.
“A Russian drone hit a civilian merchant ship under the Liberian flag, which was heading along the sea corridor to load corn,” the update says.
“The crew managed to quickly extinguish the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured. The ship continued its movement and reached the port,” it adds.
Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, confirmed the attack took place Tuesday morning.
The ministry also said Russian drones struck a Panama-flagged ship at the port of Izmail in the Odesa region the same night, with multiple hits documented at port infrastructure.
In March, another Panama-flagged vessel was struck at the Chornomorsk port in the Odesa region, injuring an unspecified number of crew members.
The ministry said ports are operating as usual after Tuesday’s attacks, with restoration work ongoing.
The reports came a day before another attack on the port infrastructure in the Odesa region.
On Wednesday morning, a major aerial attack struck southern Ukraine, with three Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 324 drones documented nationwide.

According to the State Emergency Service, warehouse and administrative buildings were damaged in the Odesa region, but no casualties were reported.
In March, Ukrainian exporters said Russia’s repeated strikes on ports, railways and energy infrastructure have doubled transport costs, disrupted export planning and forced companies to constantly reroute cargo .
In February, Ukraine’s economy ministry said Russia’s attacks on ports and logistics infrastructure had slashed monthly shipping volumes by 20-30% , leaving Ukraine with a surplus of 10 million tonnes of unsold grain in 2025.
“The maritime corridor remains the key route from an economic perspective: It ensures the largest volumes of transport and is the most cost-effective for the export of agricultural products,” Deputy Economy Minister Taras Vysotsky told RBC-Ukraine at the time.
