As Ukrainians marked the end of Easter Sunday, Russian forces launched a wave of nearly 100 drones overnight, targeting settlements across the country in attacks that wounded civilians, knocked out power and triggered air raid alerts from Zaporizhzhia to Chernihiv.
Ukraine’s Air Force said it neutralized 87 of 98 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched beginning at 12:10 a.m. Monday, April 13. The drones – including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types – were fired from multiple directions inside Russia and from occupied Crimea. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups all took part in repelling the attack. Nine drones struck their targets at nine locations, with debris from downed UAVs falling at a tenth. As of Monday morning, the attack was ongoing, with enemy drones still in Ukrainian airspace.
