Rising Aggression of Civilians Towards Military Recruitment Centers: Olga Reshetilova
Military Ombudsman Olga Reshetilova, also known as Kobylinska, has highlighted a troubling increase in aggression from civilians towards servicemen at Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRSS) during a recent interview with Radio NV.
In her remarks during the Radio NV broadcast, Reshetilova emphasized that the phenomenon of civilian aggression towards military personnel is becoming increasingly concerning, as such attacks are occurring with alarming regularity. She stated, “We can generally see a trend in media reports and the fact that these attacks have become regular — at least from what we observe in the information space. From the communication we have with the servicemen at TCRSS, we understand that aggression from individuals evading service is growing more and more towards the military personnel at TCRSS. This is becoming a significant problem.”
According to reports, a serious incident occurred on April 6 at the Kharkiv Regional TCRSS, where a civilian attacked military personnel during a notification event for reservists, resulting in one serviceman sustaining a knife wound. The injured individual was urgently hospitalized, and law enforcement is currently searching for the assailant.
Additionally, on April 4, another attack was reported at the Vinnytsia Regional TCRSS, where two servicemen were stabbed. This incident took place during mobilization activities when military personnel attempted to check the documents of a man who suddenly drew a knife and inflicted several wounds. Both injured servicemen required hospitalization.
Another tragic event unfolded on April 2, when a 52-year-old serviceman from TCRSS was fatally stabbed in the neck around 1:30 PM on Paton Street in Lviv. Customs inspector Andriy Trush has been arrested on suspicion of deliberately murdering the military personnel.
On March 8, an attack by a group of civilians on servicemen was reported at the Volyn Regional TCRSS, where military personnel were performing their duties by transporting a reservist to the TCRSS near the village of Ozero. According to TCRSS information, about seven civilian vehicles pursued the military service vehicle and began to deliberately block its movement, performing dangerous maneuvers. As a result, the military vehicle veered into a ditch, and the group of individuals used force to break the car window and forcibly release the man being transported to the recruitment center.
During this incident, one serviceman sustained a head injury, while another suffered abrasions on his forearm and face, as the attackers shattered the front passenger window of the vehicle. These incidents illustrate the escalating tension between civilians and military personnel, necessitating urgent action from the state and law enforcement agencies.
Thus, the situation regarding civilian aggression towards military recruitment centers is becoming an increasingly serious issue that requires attention and action from the relevant authorities.
