Zheleznyak: Today the Rada is Ready to Support Most of the Agenda's Bills

During a briefing for journalists, Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak from the 'Golos' parliamentary faction expressed confidence that the Verkhovna Rada is prepared to support the majority of bills included in today's agenda. According to him, there will be enough votes to pass a number of important initiatives, particularly those related to national obligations. 'This will not be complete, but partially: a number of bills will obviously be adopted,' he noted, as reported by a correspondent from Ukrinform.
Zheleznyak also emphasized that this does not signify the end or resolution of the political crisis within the parliament. He stressed that most of the contentious issues raised by MPs regarding the bills have been successfully resolved during previous discussions. 'A vivid example is the bill on the taxation of OLX, which has become entirely acceptable. I am glad that the authorities took our text, which we prepared with colleagues — Nina Yuzhanina and Dmytro Razumkov. As a result, instead of an unpopular law, it has become quite popular and improves the situation,' the parliamentarian underscored.
Furthermore, Zheleznyak pointed out that a similar situation is observed with the bill regarding military tax. 'Personally, I do not support it, but there are colleagues who have a different position: they agreed to create a special fund specifically for military needs. Again, the bill will pass in the hall today in its basic form and as a whole. The same applies to a number of bills concerning Eurointegration or even related to the World Bank,' he said.
At the same time, the representative of the 'Golos' faction noted that the consensus does not apply to all legislative initiatives. 'This approach will characterize today and the next day. Therefore, I think that 70-80% of the bills will be adopted. It seems to me that this definitely removes the question from the Verkhovna Rada about why the parliament does not vote. This is a constructive position. But whether we will continue to work the same way without political changes? I doubt it,' the MP expressed his assumptions.
As reported by Ukrinform, on Monday, April 6, ahead of the parliament's session, the head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov, held a meeting with the heads of the Verkhovna Rada committees. On the same day, the 'Servant of the People' faction held a meeting to discuss the bills whose adoption would enable the allocation of external funding to Ukraine.
In particular, the agenda of the Rada today includes bills related to the fulfillment of the requirements of the Ukraine Facility and the International Monetary Fund (IMF): No. 15110 — regarding the collection of military tax, No. 15111 — regarding the implementation of international automatic exchange of information on income received through digital platforms and the taxation of such income, No. 15112 — regarding the taxation of electronic commerce transactions with value-added tax. These bills are crucial for providing financial assistance from the IMF.
