Zelensky Meets with Rabbis and Representatives of Jewish Communities

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently held a meeting with rabbis representing Jewish communities across Ukraine, coinciding with the celebration of Passover, one of the most significant holidays in Jewish tradition.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently met with rabbis representing Jewish communities in Ukraine, as well as other representatives from these communities. This meeting took place in the context of the Passover celebration, one of the most important holidays in Jewish tradition, as reported by Ukrinform on Zelensky's Telegram account.

Zelensky emphasized that the Passover holiday symbolizes the victory of freedom, a theme that resonates profoundly with Ukraine's current circumstances. 'Passover is about the victory of freedom. This is exactly what all of Ukraine is fighting for today,' he stated, highlighting the significance of this holiday amid the modern challenges faced by the country.

The President expressed gratitude to the Jewish community for their unity in the struggle for freedom, underscoring their support for the people, assistance to communities, and prayers for Ukraine. 'I am grateful for a special gift—the first Torah translated into Ukrainian and printed in a Kharkiv printing house that the Russians attempted to destroy,' Zelensky added, noting the importance of this gift in the context of war.

The Passover holiday, celebrated annually in the spring, is one of the largest Jewish festivals. Passover commemorates the liberation of the ancient Israelites from slavery in Egypt. This holiday is observed in Nisan, the first month of the year according to the Jewish religious calendar, which usually falls in March or April. In Israel, the Passover celebration lasts for seven days, while outside the country, including in Ukraine, the celebration extends to eight days.

Zelensky's meeting with representatives of Jewish communities highlights the importance of interethnic unity and cooperation in the face of contemporary challenges. The Jewish community in Ukraine has deep roots and a rich history, and their contributions to society remain vital in the fight for the country's freedom and independence.

In the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine, such meetings take on special significance, as they demonstrate solidarity among different nationalities and religions in a common struggle for peace and stability in the country. President Zelensky called on all Ukrainians to unite for a shared goal—the protection of freedom and independence for Ukraine.
