Zelensky Imposes Sanctions on Russian Companies Manufacturing Drones, Missiles, and Technologies for the Kerch Bridge
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a new package of sanctions targeting Russian legal entities and individuals supporting Moscow's military-industrial complex and facilitating the circumvention of international restrictions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has enacted a new sanctions package aimed at Russian legal entities and individuals who support Moscow's military-industrial complex and assist in evading international restrictions, according to a statement from the president's press service.
This set of measures, based on decisions made by the National Security and Defense Council on March 26, is directed at those involved in the production of modern weaponry, the construction of the Kerch Bridge, and illegal business activities in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
The primary sanctions package includes 26 individuals and 31 legal entities. Among them are companies that manufacture maritime and aerospace robotic systems, as well as electronic warfare (EW) equipment, air defense systems, and armored vehicles. The list also includes aviation industry enterprises responsible for the production and repair of components for helicopters from the Mi-8, Mi-17, and Mi-14 families.
A second decree targets 7 individuals and 11 legal entities involved in sanction evasion networks. This group includes manufacturers of critical components for Russian missiles such as the X-101 and Iskander-K.
“These sanctions strike at the very heart of the Russian military-industrial complex, from weapon manufacturers to networks that facilitate sanction evasion,” stated Vladislav Vasyuk, the president's commissioner for sanctions policy. “We are consistently closing all loopholes, including activities in temporarily occupied territories.”
Zelensky also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in this area, planning to share data with international partners to synchronize sanctions on a global scale. This will be a significant step in combating Russian aggression and garnering support for Ukraine from the international community.
On March 28, Zelensky warned about the threat posed by drone usage, stressing that Ukraine needs to enhance its defense capabilities in response to increasing threats from Russia. He called for intensified efforts to develop technologies that would enable Ukraine to counter new security challenges.
This sanctions package is part of a broader strategy by Ukraine aimed at reducing Russia's influence on the international stage and ensuring security in the region. Ukrainian authorities continue to work on engaging the international community in active measures against the aggressor, highlighting the importance of unity in the fight for freedom and independence.
