Zelensky: Ukraine Ready to Share Experience in Unblocking Food Corridor, But No Requests Received for Hormuz Strait
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed Ukraine's readiness to share its experience in unblocking the food corridor in the Black Sea, while noting that no requests for assistance regarding the Hormuz Strait have been received.
In an interview with the Associated Press, fragments of which were published on his Telegram channel, Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced that Ukraine is prepared to share its own experience in unblocking the food corridor in the Black Sea. However, he emphasized that so far, he has not received any requests for help in unblocking the Hormuz Strait.
Responding to journalists' questions about the potential assistance Ukraine could provide in addressing the issues surrounding the Hormuz Strait, Zelensky pointed out that Ukraine has faced a similar situation when Russia blocked its food corridor in the Black Sea. The President highlighted that this was a serious problem that required a comprehensive approach and decisive action.
Zelensky explained that Russia employed various means to enforce the blockade, including not only combat ships but also helicopters, missiles, fighter jets, and many other offensive capabilities. According to him, Ukraine managed to destroy part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which forced the aggressor to retreat from the corridor. This was a significant step towards restoring security in the region.
The President also discussed the organization of convoys for civilian vessels, which were protected by maritime drones. These drones were utilized to counter Russian helicopters and other offensive assets, allowing Ukraine to regain control over the food corridor. Zelensky noted that this corridor is currently under Ukraine's control and is functioning successfully.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is willing to share its experience with other countries that may face similar challenges. However, he also pointed out that, at this moment, none of the partner countries have approached Ukraine with requests for assistance in unblocking the Hormuz Strait. He stated that partners have only expressed a desire to learn more about Ukraine's experience in this area.
This statement from the President of Ukraine underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing global issues, such as the blockage of maritime routes, which can lead to serious economic consequences for many countries. Ukraine, having endured difficult times due to the blockade of its ports, is ready to share knowledge and strategies that could be beneficial for other nations.
Meanwhile, the situation in the Hormuz Strait remains complex, and the international community continues to monitor developments in this strategically important region. Ukrainian experience may prove valuable for countries seeking ways to ensure the security of their maritime routes in the face of modern challenges.
