Zelensky Discusses Meetings in Damascus, Including Turkey's Involvement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported on the outcomes of his visit to Syria, where he engaged in significant bilateral discussions and a trilateral meeting involving representatives from Ukraine, Syria, and Turkey.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has shared the results of his recent visit to Syria, which included not only a bilateral meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa but also crucial negotiations involving Ukrainian and Syrian teams, as well as a trilateral discussion that featured representatives from Ukraine, Syria, and Turkey.

Zelensky emphasized that this day marked an important milestone in the development of relations between the countries. In a social media post, he highlighted: "An important day of negotiations in Damascus – today there was both a bilateral format with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, discussions involving our teams, and a trilateral conversation – Ukraine, Syria, Turkey. We are building new relationships, new opportunities, and expanding our efforts for security."

During the meetings, the parties discussed a wide range of issues, from security and defense aspects to the regional situation, particularly in light of developments concerning Iran. President Zelensky stressed the importance of energy and infrastructure cooperation between Ukraine and Syria, which could serve as a foundation for further development of bilateral relations.

"We will continue our work on food security as well. We discussed in detail how to overcome the consequences of the war, and the negotiation process regarding Russia's war against our state and people," Zelensky added, underscoring the importance of collaboration in these areas.

This visit was significant as it occurred against the backdrop of a growing interest in exchanging military and security experiences between Ukraine and Syria. The day before, on Sunday, Zelensky expressed readiness for active cooperation in these directions following his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

The context for these negotiations was the escalation of the situation in the region, as well as new challenges faced by both countries. In light of the global changes occurring on the international stage, it is crucial to establish new connections and seek common solutions to ensure stability and security.

Thus, Zelensky's visit to Syria and the outcomes of the meetings may lay the groundwork for new initiatives in the fields of security, economy, and humanitarian assistance, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on relations between Ukraine, Syria, and Turkey.
