Zelensky Criticizes 'Political Struggle' Among Some Rada Representatives Amid Absence of Elections

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his disapproval of the actions of certain representatives in the Verkhovna Rada during a press meeting on Thursday, emphasizing that their political maneuvers are detrimental to national unity in a time when elections are not being held.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a meeting with journalists that took place on Thursday, criticized the actions of some representatives of the factions in the Verkhovna Rada, who, according to him, do not contribute to unity in the country but instead engage in political struggles at a time when elections are not being conducted. This information was reported by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

Zelensky pointed out that he advocates for unity and effective parliamentary work; however, he believes that the public stance of certain deputies is destructive. 'I am for unity, so that the parliament works. But today, the public position of some representatives of parliamentary factions is aimed exactly at not achieving unity,' he emphasized.

The President also noted that some deputies travel abroad and communicate with European institutions, attempting to worsen conditions for Ukraine. 'There is also a non-public position of some representatives who go abroad, communicate in various European institutions in a way that aims to worsen conditions for Ukraine, and this is also quite destructive,' he added.

Zelensky believes that such political struggles persist due to the absence of elections, but he considers it inappropriate in the context of war. 'I do not see the point—after all, there are no elections. The war continues. Why waste your energy on political struggle? But there are those who spend it precisely on this, rather than on unity and work for the sake of Ukraine,' the president remarked.

It is worth recalling that in September 2025, Volodymyr Zelensky rejected all accusations of centralizing power in his hands, as well as claims regarding the absence of elections and issues with corruption in the country. He emphasized that elections could be held even during a ceasefire, but for this, support from international partners and security guarantees are necessary.
