Zelensky Discusses Patriot Missile Supply: Agreements Reached with Some Middle Eastern Countries
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently revealed that agreements have been reached regarding the supply of missiles for the Patriot system from certain Middle Eastern nations during an online press conference.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently spoke with journalists in an online format, discussing the agreements that have been reached concerning the supply of missiles for the Patriot missile defense system from several countries in the Middle East. This information was reported by Ukrinform.
In response to questions from reporters about the potential acquisition of missiles from Middle Eastern nations, Zelensky stated, "Of course, we are raising this issue. It depends not only on a particular country but also on the United States. Because there must be permission even for resale or for them to give them to us. We have already agreed on a decision with someone, and now they are working with the U.S."
The President emphasized that agreements have already been made with some Middle Eastern countries for a decade-long defense cooperation. He added that this cooperation includes "various components" that could strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities. "We are working on both PAC-3 and diesel for Ukraine, as well as some other things that could enhance us," Zelensky stressed.
According to information provided by Ukrinform, President Zelensky recently signed a mutually beneficial defense partnership agreement with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. This agreement outlines cooperation in the defense sector for at least ten years. A similar agreement has also been established with Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, the Ukrainian President announced that a similar document will be signed with the United Arab Emirates. These agreements indicate an intensification of military cooperation between Ukraine and Middle Eastern countries, which could significantly bolster the country's defense capabilities.
It is worth noting that Zelensky had previously expressed hope for acquiring scarce missiles for the Patriot system in exchange for support from Middle Eastern countries. These missiles are a crucial element in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities amid ongoing aggression.
Zelensky called on the international community to continue supporting Ukraine, as this is vital for ensuring security not only in Ukraine but throughout the entire region.
