Zelensky on New Diplomatic Agreements: Ukraine as a Desired Partner
In a recent evening video address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced active efforts by Ukrainian diplomacy to forge new agreements with international partners, highlighting ongoing negotiations with Turkey.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his evening video address broadcast on October 26, announced significant efforts by Ukrainian diplomacy aimed at establishing new agreements with international partners. According to the head of state, his team is currently working to finalize agreements that were discussed during recent visits, particularly with the Turkish side.
Zelensky noted that the head of Naftogaz of Ukraine is actively collaborating with Turkish colleagues to implement all agreements reached during their meeting in Istanbul. "Joint work with Turkey is one of our guarantees of energy security and logistical safety. There is a good foundation to take new joint steps," he emphasized.
The President also highlighted that his recent meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was one of the most successful in all the years of their cooperation. He expressed gratitude to Erdogan for the constructive dialogue and support for Ukraine during challenging times.
In addition to cooperation with Turkey, Zelensky focused on the restoration of diplomatic relations with Syria. "The diplomatic part of our team is also working on Syria to strengthen our interaction. We have already restored full relations; we need to restore a permanent diplomatic presence and ongoing interaction," he stated.
Rustem Umerov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, continues to work in the region to achieve common security goals with relevant countries, as well as to expand defense and economic relations. Zelensky emphasized that agreements already exist with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, and there is interest from Oman and Bahrain.
"For the first time in history, Ukraine is not just represented in the Middle East and Gulf region, but is a desired and strong partner there," he stressed, highlighting the importance of support for Ukraine from Arab countries.
Zelensky also reminded that Ukraine was among the first to support the region when attacks from the Iranian regime began. "We supported Syria when the Assad regime was overthrown. It is important to consider the interests of the Iranian people now so that everything is dignified," he added.
The President underscored that Ukraine seeks to achieve a "worthy peace" and promotes this goal on the international stage. "Our goal is absolutely clear: stability and peace are needed in Europe, stability and peace are needed in the Middle East and the Gulf, as well as in other globally significant regions, so that the world does not face problems caused by destabilized markets, destroyed energy systems, disrupted shipping, nuclear threats, or food insecurity," Zelensky noted.
He also emphasized the importance of security for all nations, stating that "there will be new security agreements that will certainly strengthen Ukraine." The President mentioned that various countries wish to collaborate with Ukraine as a security partner, and Ukraine is open to working with all those who support its sovereignty and independence.
In concluding his address, Zelensky thanked the international community for its support of Ukraine, stating that the country has become respected on the world stage. "I thank you for making Ukraine what it is and for the respect it receives," he summarized.
Furthermore, as reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that if Russia is ready to stop attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure, Ukraine is prepared to respond in kind. This proposal was conveyed to the aggressor country through American partners.
