Zelensky: Only Joint Actions by States Can Unblock the Strait of Hormuz

In a recent interview with NewsNation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the necessity of collective state actions to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, stating that no single country can resolve this issue alone.

In a recent interview with the NewsNation television channel, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted the urgent need for collaborative efforts among nations to address the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. He pointed out that currently, there is no country capable of independently solving this problem, and only collective actions can yield positive results. Zelensky noted that Ukraine has experience in establishing a grain corridor in the Black Sea, despite attempts by Russia to disrupt the supply of food and other goods. He remarked that the situation is similar, but pertains to energy issues.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is ready to engage in discussions regarding the Strait of Hormuz and proposed that the ongoing war and negotiations for its reopening should occur simultaneously. He believes that seeking a diplomatic solution could be beneficial for both parties involved and called for joint efforts in this direction.

The President also mentioned that an alternative option could be the establishment of unilateral control over the strait, similar to what Ukraine has done with the grain corridor. To implement such a plan, he stated that interceptors, military convoys to escort vessels, as well as a comprehensive integrated network of electronic warfare and other necessary tools would be required. Zelensky assured that Ukraine is prepared to assist in this process.

Furthermore, the head of state emphasized that Ukraine is currently not involved in addressing the issue of the Strait of Hormuz. "So far, no one has approached us with such a request. We are only sharing our knowledge. If one day our partners wish to utilize it, we will be ready," he noted.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Zelensky also shared that Ukrainian experts in the Middle East initially assessed the level of protection for various facilities, and now the defense sectors of partner countries are formulating their requests to the Ukrainian side. On March 30, Zelensky stated that Ukraine had discussed cooperation regarding maritime drones and the unblocking of sea routes with countries in the Middle East.

This situation underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges such as maritime security and energy stability. In light of the modern challenges facing nations, collective actions may hold the key to successfully resolving complex issues related to both security and the economy.
