Zelensky Ready to Share Experience on Unblocking Food Corridor in the Black Sea

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed Ukraine's readiness to share its experience in unblocking the food corridor in the Black Sea during an interview with the Associated Press on Sunday, April 5. He highlighted that Ukraine has significant experience in this matter, having faced a similar issue when Russia blocked the Ukrainian food corridor in the Black Sea.
Zelensky emphasized that Russia employed a wide range of means to enforce the blockade, including not only combat ships but also helicopters, missiles, fighter jets, and other military assets. “We had a similar problem when Russia blocked our food corridor in the Black Sea,” he remarked, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
However, according to the president, Ukraine managed to destroy a portion of the Russian Black Sea fleet, which forced the enemy to retreat from the corridor. “Then we organized convoys for civilian vessels using maritime drones to counter Russian helicopters and other offensive means,” Zelensky recalled, stressing the importance of such actions to ensure the safety of maritime transport.
Volodymyr Zelensky also noted that the food corridor is currently under Ukraine's control and is operational. “We can share this experience with other countries, but no one has asked us to come and help with the Strait of Hormuz,” he stated, adding that partners have only requested Ukraine to share its expertise in this area.
This comment from the Ukrainian president coincided with information published on March 31 in The Wall Street Journal, which reported that U.S. President Donald Trump is willing to consider ending the war against Iran, even if the currently blocked Strait of Hormuz is not fully reopened. According to U.S. intelligence, Tehran is unlikely to agree to unblock the Strait of Hormuz anytime soon.
On April 4, Trump stated that Iran has 48 hours to reach an agreement with the United States. “Remember how I gave Iran ten days to make a deal or open the Strait of Hormuz? Time is running out — 48 hours before hell falls on them,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, emphasizing the timeline for Iran to take action.
Thus, Ukraine demonstrates its readiness not only to defend its interests but also to share its experience with other countries facing similar challenges. This situation highlights the importance of international cooperation in ensuring the security of maritime routes and food corridors worldwide.
