President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday he expects envoys from US President Donald Trump to visit Ukraine in the coming weeks as Kyiv and Washington attempt to revive stalled negotiations aimed at ending Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Efforts led by Trump to broker a ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow have slowed in recent weeks as escalating tensions in the Middle East diverted Washington’s attention.

“We are coordinating the schedule of necessary visits and expect representatives of the American President at the turn of spring-summer,” Zelensky said in a statement on social media after talks in the United States involving Ukraine’s lead negotiator, Rustem Umerov.
“We hope that this time it will be possible to realize the plans and activate diplomacy,” he added.
Umerov said Friday that he had held meetings in the United States with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, describing the talks as focused primarily on humanitarian issues.
“The main attention was on the humanitarian track: the return of our prisoners held by Russia. This remains one of Ukraine’s key priorities,” Umerov said.
He added that the discussions also covered the need to intensify diplomatic efforts and coordinate next steps toward achieving what he called a “dignified peace.”
A day earlier, Zelensky outlined Kyiv’s priorities ahead of upcoming talks between Umerov and US officials, saying discussions would center on humanitarian issues, diplomacy, and security cooperation.

“The first is the humanitarian track. We hope it will be possible to carry out a new stage of prisoner exchanges,” Zelensky said Thursday on Telegram.
He said Ukraine is also seeking stronger diplomatic momentum toward what he called a “dignified peace,” alongside firm security guarantees to prevent future Russian aggression.
The third priority, he said, involves concrete security cooperation with the United States and Western partners.
The meetings came as broader peace negotiations remain stalled over a proposed 20-point framework, security guarantees for Ukraine, and Russia’s territorial demands.
Key sticking points include control over parts of Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region and the future of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Previous US-mediated rounds of talks between Kyiv and Moscow have failed to produce significant breakthroughs.
