The Reserve+ Application for Military Personnel Resumes Operations Following Technical Glitch
On Wednesday, April 1, the Reserve+ application for military personnel experienced a technical failure, prompting concerns among users and discussions on social media. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has since restored the app's functionality.
On Wednesday, April 1, the Reserve+ application, designed for military personnel in Ukraine, encountered a significant technical glitch, as reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This incident raised alarm among users, who took to social media to express their concerns and share screenshots of the app that prompted them to update the software.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Defense, the application was restored within two hours of the issue being identified. However, despite this swift response, several users continued to experience difficulties accessing their data, leading to further questions and inconveniences.
Many users reported on social media that the Reserve+ application was non-functional, displaying a message that suggested they update the app. However, it was discovered that there were no available updates in either the App Store or Google Play, complicating the situation even further.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reacted promptly to the situation, apologizing for the inconvenience and assuring users that the technical team was actively working to resolve the problem. Representatives from the ministry stated, "We expect this to be resolved within a day."
As a temporary measure, the Ministry of Defense recommended that users generate an electronic military registration document via the Diia platform. However, this option was only available on the website, as it was not integrated into the mobile application. Some users reported successfully obtaining their documents through Diia, while others encountered issues, receiving messages asking them to "return later."
Just an hour and a half after the initial problems with Reserve+, the Ministry of Defense announced that the application had been restored. As noted in the ministry's social media updates, the new version of the app became available to all users. "For most, the new version is already displayed. In some cases, due to caching in Google Play or the App Store, it may appear a bit later," the Ministry stated.
However, despite the announced update, some users continued to face issues, with the application failing to launch. This fact raised additional questions regarding the stability of the app's operations.
The Reserve+ application was launched in May 2024 and was created to update the military registration data (MRD) of Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60. It provides access to electronic documents for military personnel, as well as data in the registry, including information about status, military medical commissions (MMC), and possible deferments.
Thanks to Reserve+, military personnel can update their information without the need to visit territorial recruitment centers (TRC), and they can also submit online requests for deferments or receive referrals for MMCs. Previously, to obtain a referral for an MMC, military personnel had to visit their TRC and acquire a paper form.
Despite the requirement for a visit to the TRC in the event of receiving a paper summons, the application also offers automatic extensions for deferments for individuals with disabilities, students, graduate students, and doctoral candidates, significantly simplifying the process for these groups.
Users are calling for greater stability and reliability in the application's performance, as it serves as an essential tool for military personnel in Ukraine.
