Meeting of the Servant of the People Faction Scheduled for April 6: Arguments and Discussion Topics
The Servant of the People faction is set to convene on Monday, April 6, focusing on crucial issues related to voting on legislation tied to Ukraine's international obligations. This was announced by faction leader David Arakhamia.
The upcoming meeting of the Servant of the People faction is scheduled for Monday, April 6, and will concentrate on significant matters concerning the voting on bills related to Ukraine's international commitments. David Arakhamia, the head of the faction, stated that the discussions will cover legislative initiatives pertaining to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ukraine Facility, the World Bank, and other international financial institutions.
"On Monday, we plan to hold a faction meeting. It will be dedicated to a week of voting on bills aimed at fulfilling international obligations — IMF, Ukraine Facility, World Bank, and all others. The meeting will entirely focus on these issues, as they are linked to many international payments," Arakhamia emphasized in his statement, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
The faction leader also highlighted the importance of this meeting, noting that the delay of a €90 billion loan from the European Union, which has been blocked by Hungary, presents Ukraine with the necessity to take decisive steps to secure financial assistance. "We need to take a decisive step forward to obtain what is necessary for Ukraine," Arakhamia added.
It is expected that Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko will participate in the faction meeting, underscoring the significance of the discussed issues at the highest level. "A large open discussion is planned within our faction," remarked a member of parliament, indicating a readiness for constructive dialogue.
Additionally, key ministers will be involved in the meeting: Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev, Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko, and Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka. This indicates that the matters to be discussed are extremely important for the country's economic stability.
It is worth noting that President Volodymyr Zelensky previously expressed concern regarding the public stance of representatives from certain parliamentary factions, stating that it is "definitely not about unity." Although the president did not specify whom he was referring to, this highlights the tension in the political environment.
Andriy Motovylovets, the deputy head of the Servant of the People faction, also mentioned that parliament members will focus on reviewing three tax bills submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers. In particular, these bills concern the taxation of digital platforms (number 15111, known as the OLX law), the extension of the military levy at a rate of 5% for three more years (number 15110), and the repeal of VAT exemptions on imported parcels valued up to €150 (number 15112).
Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of parliament from the Holos party, shared his predictions regarding the parliament's support for the bills on the taxation of digital platforms and the extension of the military levy. However, he expressed skepticism about the possibility of passing the law on parcel taxation, indicating the difficulties that may arise during the voting process.
On March 30, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a package of three bills proposing amendments to the Tax Code, developed by the Ministry of Finance, and submitted them for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada. This underscores the government's activity in the legislative regulation of tax issues, which is crucial for ensuring the financial stability of the country amid the challenges it faces.
