Yulia Starodubtseva Advances to the Round of 16 at WTA 500 Tournament in Charleston

Fifth-ranked Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva, currently ranked 89th in the WTA standings, showcased an impressive performance by clinching a hard-fought victory in the second round of the WTA 500 tournament taking place in Charleston, South Carolina.

In a thrilling match that lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes, Starodubtseva faced off against Georgian player Ekaterine Gorgodze, who is ranked 164th in the world. After losing the first set 3-6, Starodubtseva regrouped and won the next two sets convincingly with scores of 6-1 and 6-2.

This victory marks a significant milestone for the Ukrainian tennis player, as it is her first participation in the Charleston tournament. In the upcoming Round of 16, Yulia Starodubtseva will compete against Mexican tennis player Renata Sarazua, who is ranked 85th in the WTA standings. Sarazua also demonstrated her resilience by defeating the 13th-seeded American player Hailey Baptiste, ranked 33rd in the world, with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The tournament in Charleston, located in West Virginia, will continue until April 5. This competition is part of the WTA 500 series, which attracts the best female tennis players from around the globe, and Starodubtseva has the opportunity to showcase her potential at this prestigious event.
