Following the conclusion of the tournament, Yulia Starodubtseva plans to take a break and rest from tennis. Although she initially intended to participate in several tournaments in Spain and Portugal, she has now decided to focus on recuperating her strength. As reported by BTU, the tennis player stated, 'Actually, I was supposed to play a WTA 125 tournament in Madrid next week, then another 125 in Portugal, and then a thousand in Madrid. So, I was initially planning to play for the next two weeks, but now I will take a break. I think I deserve a little rest!'
Starodubtseva also emphasized that she enjoys having the opportunity to rest after a tough tournament, noting, 'The earlier you lose, the more weeks you have to play.' She views this break as a reward and a chance to spend time for herself, especially since she has many tasks related to her relocation and plans to spend a few days away from tennis.
It is worth mentioning that at the start of the tournament, Yulia Starodubtseva showcased impressive results. She achieved victory over Chinese player Zhang Shuai, who is ranked 62nd in the WTA rankings. In the second round, the tennis player defeated Ekaterine Gorgodze from Georgia (No. 164 WTA), and in the third round, she confidently triumphed over Renata Saracua from Mexico (No. 85 WTA).
In the quarterfinals, Starodubtseva faced 26-year-old American Mackenzie Kessler (No. 53 WTA) and won with a score of 6-4, 6-4. In the semifinals, she convincingly passed Australian Open 2025 champion Madison Keys (No. 18 WTA) with a score of 6-1, 6-4. This final against Jessica Pegula marked the biggest match of Yulia Starodubtseva's career, and although she was unable to secure a victory, this experience will undoubtedly serve as an important stage in her future career.
