Yevhen Malolietka Wins World Press Photo 2026 Award

Ukrainian photographer Yevhen Malolietka has received prestigious recognition at the World Press Photo 2026 competition, emerging as the winner in the Europe category. The photograph that earned Yevhen this accolade was taken following a massive attack by the Russian Federation on Kyiv on April 24, 2025. The haunting image features a 65-year-old woman named Valeriya Synyuk, who is seen sitting in blood outside her home, which was severely damaged by an enemy missile. This tragic incident resulted in the loss of at least 12 lives, while approximately 90 Ukrainians, including Valeriya, sustained injuries.
