EBRD Launches €2 Billion Program to Finance Energy Independence Solutions

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced the launch of a new program aimed at supporting Ukraine's energy independence. This initiative, named the Energy Security Support Facility (ESSF), allocates €2 billion for financing various solutions to help Ukrainian households, businesses, and communities become more energy independent.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has officially launched a groundbreaking initiative designed to bolster energy independence in Ukraine. The program, known as the Energy Security Support Facility (ESSF), is set to provide a substantial €2 billion in funding aimed at implementing a range of solutions that will assist Ukrainian households, businesses, and communities in achieving greater energy autonomy.

According to a statement published on the EBRD's official Facebook page, the ESSF program will facilitate access to financing for the installation of solar panels, generators, batteries, and other solutions specifically designed to enhance energy resilience. EBRD representatives emphasized, "This is the largest initiative in Ukraine aimed at strengthening energy resilience."

The ESSF program has been meticulously crafted to address the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as individual homeowners who own apartments or private houses. Additionally, the program provides opportunities for homeowners' associations (OSBB) to receive grants. Loans under this initiative will be made available through EBRD partner banks, ensuring convenient access to financing for all participants involved.

Moreover, the program supports projects in the renewable energy sector, including solar power plants (SPPs), wind power plants (WPPs), small hydropower plants (HPPs), and biogas installations. It also finances energy storage systems, energy-efficient buildings, and small-scale generation up to 50 MW, which encompasses gas power plants and installations for self-consumption or for the grid. EBRD officials highlighted, "Dozens of decentralized systems are already being implemented across Ukraine under the ESSF program."

The list of partner banks participating in the ESSF program includes notable institutions such as Ukreximbank, Ukrsibbank, ProCredit Bank, Crédit Agricole Bank, PrivatBank, Ukrgasbank, Oschadbank, and Raiffeisenbank. This diverse range of banking partners ensures broad access to financing for all those interested in undertaking energy independence projects.

For detailed information regarding the lending conditions and contact details for program consultants, interested parties can visit the EBRD's website, where all necessary information is readily available.

Furthermore, it is important to note that the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has previously streamlined and expedited the process for obtaining funds for apartment buildings under the SvitloDim program, which further promotes the development of energy-efficient projects throughout Ukraine.
